Why this petition matters
Started by Austin Billings
All across North America, once-proud forests are being decimated by the mountain pine beetle - a native species growing in numbers because of man-made climate change.
One particularly hard-hit area is Yellowstone National Park and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, where at least 85% of the keystone species whitebark pine has already been destroyed or damaged by the beetles. Whitebark pine is an important food source for grizzly bears and nutcrackers, a vital carbon sink, an important ecological resource, and a symbol of Yellowstone's majesty.
Please, help protect the park and ask the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the tree as an endangered species.
